We are currently seeking staff who are registered Medical Laboratory Scientists/Technicians or with a suitable tertiary science qualification enabling registration, to join our Pathlab Bay of Plenty team in a part-time permanent capacity based in Tauranga.
We realise many sciences qualified people have little to no medical laboratory experience but have basic laboratory technique/skills, along with attention to detail, and sound scientific thinking. This is the foundation we need to build upon and will provide the necessary training to enable you to become a valuable member of our team.
The role will involve practising as a registered Scientist/Technician undertaking aspects of diagnostic laboratory work within the Microbiology department. You will be required to work evening shifts at least two nights per week and to provide casual cover for leave on other nights. We can be flexible with the start time and can accommodate with a 6 to 8 hour shift. Suitably experienced candidates may have future opportunities to expand the range of shifts they work.
Our Microbiology/Molecular department is comprised of 35+ Clinical Microbiologists, Scientists, and Technicians. We operate a variety of automated microbiology and molecular platforms, providing services that cover conventional microbiology through to molecular microbiology. Our centralised laboratory in Tauranga also supports three hospital STAT Microbiology laboratories.

With participation in our 7-day roster, working flexibly in reflection of service needs is an integral part of the role and will include rostered participation in evening shifts (Monday to Friday), but may require working day and weekend shifts.
