    QMLT Application & Prerequisites

    QMLT 2025 Examination Applications are now OPEN. Applications close on 15 April 2025.
    No late applications/payments will be accepted.

    APPLICATION FORM AND PREREQUISITES
    Examination date Saturday 4 OCTOBER 2025




    The NZIMLS offers the Qualified Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate (QMLT) examinations annually in the following medical laboratory science discipline/subject areas:


    • Anatomical Pathology
    • Biochemistry
    • Component Processing (previously Blood Products)
    • Donor Technician
    • General Technician
    • Haematology
    • Immunology
    • Microbiology
    • Molecular Diagnostics
    • Mortuary
    • Phlebotomy
    • Specimen Services
    • Transfusion Science


    Important note:
    The common curriculum and discipline curriculum are assessed by one examination, which contains 
    two components. Candidates must gain a minimum of a 'C' grade (50%) in the common component, and a minimum of a 'C' grade (50%) in the discipline specific component of the written examination.


    NB: Not all of the MLS subjects listed above may be offered in each year. Please check with the NZIMLS Executive Office.



    Once you have completed the required number of hours to complete your qualification, please download the form, Completion of Hours Form complete and return to the NZIMLS at admin@nzimls.org.nz


    All completed forms are to be emailed to admin@nzimls.org.nz
