    About the role |Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga  

    We are currently seeking one Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist with suitable experience in Core Laboratory disciplines to join our Pathlab Taupo team. The position is full-time permanent and will be based at our Taupo Hospital site.


    The role will involve practising as a registered Scientist to undertake aspects of diagnostic laboratory work within the core laboratory department.


    You will be part of a team of 6 Core staff at Pathlab Taupo, working under the guidance of the Site and Service Leads to deliver a consistently high-quality service.


    With full participation in our 24/7 roster, you will be required to work a range of shifts including rostered weekends and  on-call – so flexibility is key!


    About you | He kōrero mōu  

    Ideally, you will be a Senior Medical Scientist  demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and skill in applying scientific judgement across the various disciplines withing the Core laboratory. Your ability to show initiative and work well with others will see you transition seamlessly into our team.


    Our ideal candidates will be able to clearly demonstrate the following:

    • Suitable qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in a Medical Core laboratory. 
    • Good understanding of Biochemistry is essential.
    • Enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
    • An understanding of IANZ requirements.
    • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other teams, with excellent organisation and time management skills.
    • Must hold registration with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand and a current annual practicing certificate.
