About the Role

As a Laboratory Scientist in the Biochemistry department, you will be responsible for:

• Performing high-quality diagnostic testing in a busy laboratory environment.
• Ensuring accurate and timely processing of samples to support clinical decision-making.
• Maintaining quality control and adhering to laboratory protocols and accreditation standards.
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible patient outcomes.
• Engaging in ongoing professional development and contributing to service improvement initiatives.

Our Biochemistry team is a vital part of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Laboratory, providing critical diagnostic services to the region. You will be joining a supportive and experienced team dedicated to excellence in patient care and laboratory science.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Hold a relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Science and be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
• Have experience in Biochemistry or a related field.
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Be detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
• Work effectively in a team and communicate well with colleagues and clinical staff.
• Be adaptable and open to continuous learning and development.
