Awanui Labs – Otago Southland (previously known as SCL) provides high-quality diagnostic pathology services to the community, healthcare professionals and their patients. Our Oamaru Laboratory has been providing pathology services to the Otago community for more than 60 years. We recognise the importance of highly qualified staff and inspired leadership together with advanced information technology and automation to achieve service excellence.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community.
About the Role:
- This is a casual role with possible shifts between 7am and 5pm Monday-Friday.
- The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation
- Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory
- Permanent work may become available within out Patient Services department at a later date.
The ideal candidate will hold a QMLT in Phlebotomy or similar. However, for the right candidate, we will provide a full on-the-job training programme in Phlebotomy while supporting you to become a Qualified Phlebotomist with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ.
