Medical Lab Technician - Immunology Full-time Fixed Term Wellington

Wellington Awanui laboratory is owned by APHG, a healthcare company committed to providing facilities and services that deliver exceptional care to its clients, servicing a population of around 550,000. The laboratory is based at the Wellington Hospital campus in Newtown Wellington.

About the Role | Mō te tūranga:

Our Immunology department is looking for an enthusiastic and competent Medical Laboratory Technician or Trainee to work full-time (80 hours per fortnight) based at Wellington Hospital until the end of December 2025. The Immunology Department is multifaceted, providing all of the testing for Infectious Serology, Autoimmune, Allergy and Flow Cytometry for Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley, Wairarapa and Taranaki DHBs. The department offers the successful applicant an opportunity to work with some of the latest available technology in the field. 

To succeed in this role you will need:

• Registration or eligibility to register as a Medical Lab Technician or training towards registration with Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in performing Immunological assays and analysis is preferred.
• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines
• A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Excellent attention to detail, with good record-keeping skills
• Flexibility in working shifts to meet the service needs, may be required
