About the role | Mō te tūranga:

We are seeking a part-time, fixed term technician or trainee to work 44 hours per fortnight until May 2026. Your key tasks will be receiving and preparing samples, barcoding, performing data entry of patients and test details and answering phones. This is a hands-on role in the laboratory environment where you will work collaboratively as part of the team, work well under pressure, and have an eye for detail and problem-solving ability.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
• Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills
• A sound knowledge of medical terminology, and laboratory operations including; safety, operations of equipment and hands-on practical experience is desirable; but not essential.
• Diploma in Applied Science or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand without any restriction
• Interested candidates must be team players with initiative, good interpersonal and communication skills and possess the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.’

The ideal candidate will have registration as a Pre-analytical Medical Laboratory technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
