About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Specialist in the Endocrinology section of our dynamic and forward-thinking Biochemistry Department. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead and support the delivery of high-quality endocrine testing services.
Our Endocrinology section utilises a range of immunoassay methodologies, including automated electrochemiluminescence (Roche e411 assay), chemiluminescence (IDS-iSYS analyser), and radioimmunoassay. As a Technical Specialist, you will play a key role in overseeing assay performance, troubleshooting technical issues, implementing new methodologies, and ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and accreditation requirements.
In this role, you will work closely with endocrinology clinicians and the chemical pathologist, providing expert technical guidance and contributing to the interpretation and optimisation of endocrine assays. Your expertise will help ensure accurate and reliable test results that directly impact patient care.

About the Service
The Biochemistry department is an integral part of the wider laboratory services at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato, servicing inpatients, outpatients and community patients of the Manawa Taki region. The laboratory service is situated over five sites, our central laboratory at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton and our smaller laboratories in Tokoroa, Thames, Taumarunui and Te Kuiti hospitals.

About you
Suitable hands on experience in endocrinology and using immunoassay techniques.
Understanding of assay validation, quality control and accreditation standards.
Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting technical issues and implementing process improvements.
A motivated team player with initiative and great interpersonal and communication skills.
