About the Role | Mō te tūranga:

We are looking for a Trainee or Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Haematology Department based at Wellington Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time position (80 hours per fortnight) within a department that performs a wide range of routine and specialist diagnostic testing using the latest automated systems

To succeed in the role, you will have:

  • A methodical approach and commitment to following strict quality procedures.
  • A strong team ethic, initiative, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to make swift and informed decisions in a high-throughput, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Hands-on practical experience and a sound knowledge of laboratory operations including safety and operation of equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Previous experience in a Haematology laboratory (desirable).
  • Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Technician is a desirable, but not essential.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
